On August 2nd, 2019, 5 members from One Better World (OBW) arranged a workshop on Dengue Awareness Raising with a tagline “ঢাকায় ডেঙ্গু প্রতিরোধ” at Hazaribagh, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The dengue situation in Bangladesh worsens every day by getting increased the number of patients all over the country. The country has reported 35,000 dengue cases, with the vast majority since July 2019. The Official data reports 23 deaths from dengue in 2019, but unofficial and media reports point to a higher death toll of at least 85. The majority of dengue cases were reported in Dhaka but some cases in different divisions like Chittagong, Khulna, Rangpur, and Rajshahi were also critical.
As dengue fever is turning into a severe health crisis across the country, it is important to make a vibration around us about the disease by concerning everyone how it spreads and what we should do to minimize the risk of the disease.
The event started around 10.30 am and went up to 11:30 am and they reached more than 70 underprivileged people (guardians with their children) with discourses regarding the common symptoms of dengue, the preventive measures, self-consciousness, the treatment and costs and rumors related to dengue. The event ended by distributing oral saline among them with great pleasure.
