On March 2, 2018, 14 members of One Better world (OBW) arranged a workshop on menstruation hygiene with the tagline “Menstruation matters to everyone, everywhere”.
Menstruation or period are often counted as taboo in this sub-continent. Regardless of its significance to mankind, people always showed a negative perspective towards it from the beginning of time. They even ignore the health risk for women due to their unconsciousness about this matter. To protect our women, these taboos should be broken down and women themselves should know more about their hygiene. In order to enlighten women and young girls, One Better World has arranged this workshop.
The workshop took place on 3rd May 2018 in Mascot Innovative School and College, Ashkona, Haji camp. The event started around 1.00 O’ clock and went up to 3.00 O’ clock of noon. The workshop started off with discourses regarding the necessity of using clean sanitary pads and what might be the cost of an unhygienic practice regarding period. Later on, an open-ended awareness-raising discussion took place where the Students mentioned their problems, obstacles, and queries regarding healthy menstruation hygiene which was answered by the specialized members of the OBW team.
The event ended by distributing all young girls with Freedom sanitary pads provided by ACI Pharmaceuticals, to motivate the practice of using hygienic sanitary pads from future onwards. About 100 young girls were reached through this event.
